Our Vision

Our vision is one of resilience. We work in partnership to create a self-sustaining culture of fortitude in school, career, and life. We envision communities where all people live lives of strength, purpose and compassion. We inspire success one moment at a time.

Guiding Principles

We believe that growth and learning take place when people of all ages are connected, confident and focused.

We believe that mindfulness empowers us to handle adversity, manage emotions, and resolve conflicts in a proactive and deliberate way.

We believe that resilience is essential for thriving in school, career, and community.

Our History

For 5 years, ResilientKids worked with more than 5,000 Rhode Island students at 24 different schools across the state. Our results spoke for themselves: dramatic reductions in student and teacher stress; bullying; and behavior-related visits to the principal’s office.

Increased interest from teachers lead us to conduct a training program in the summer of 2015, and it filled up almost immediately with attendees from various industries outside of education. Following this training, we received a flurry of requests from:

  • parents who need balance and self-care
  • veterans dealing with PTSD
  • patients working to improve their own health
  • physicians looking to reduce burnout
  • companies encouraging employee well-being and leadership development programs

We realized that our nonprofit was uniquely positioned to offer a wider-array of mindfulness services, both in and outside of Rhode Island, while continuing to expand ResilientKids’ work, the heart of who we are, in our local schools.

As a result, we expanded our organization and renamed it: Center for Resilience. We are excited that people of all ages will be able to benefit from mindfulness practice and the expertise of our instructors and programs to enhance emotional intelligence, emotional skills and stress management in the classroom, community, and workplace.
